WRC2 CONTENDERS PREPARE FOR ONE OF THE TOUGHEST GRAVEL EVENTS OF THE SEASON AS ACROPOLIS RALLY GREECE OPENS A RUN OF SEVEN STRAIGHT DIRT ROUNDS

Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 crews head into Acropolis Rally Greece facing one of the toughest challenges on the FIA World Rally Championship calendar, with rough gravel roads, technical sections and high temperatures set to test both drivers and machinery in the eighth round of the 2026 season.

The Greek event, running from 25-28 June, marks the start of a sequence of seven consecutive gravel rallies in the WRC season. The route combines rugged mountain stages in the Peloponnese with more technical roads in the Corinthian Isthmus area.

A total of 11 crews will compete in Greece with the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, with several drivers targeting strong WRC2 results.

Former WRC2 champion Andreas Mikkelsen returns to the Acropolis in a Toksport WRT Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, partnered by co-driver Jørn Listerud. Mikkelsen is already a former WRC2 winner at the Greek round and arrives with experience of the event’s demanding conditions.

Also representing Toksport WRT is Robert Virves, alongside co-driver Jakko Viilo. The Estonian crew claimed WRC2 victory earlier this season at Safari Rally Kenya and will be among the Škoda drivers expected to challenge near the front on rough gravel.

Jan Solans and co-driver Rodrigo Sanjuán head to Greece in the Team PH.Ph Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, looking to secure their first WRC2 podium finish of the season.

Italian crew Roberto Daprà and Luca Guglielmetti, competing for Delta Rally Team, also have clear targets for the event as they aim to improve on their current seventh-place positions in the WRC2 drivers’ and co-drivers’ standings.

Another Škoda crew to watch is Czech pairing Martin Prokop and Michael Ernst of Jipo Car, who finished sixth in WRC2 at Acropolis Rally Greece last year.
