RALLY FINLAND 2026: ROBERT VIRVES TAKES FOURTH WRC2 WIN AND MOVES INTO CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD
ESTONIAN ŠKODA DRIVER COMPLETES PERFECT FOUR-FOR-FOUR RUN AS LAURI JOONA FINISHES THIRD IN WRC2
Robert Virves strengthened his position in the FIA WRC2 championship fight by claiming his fourth victory from four point-scoring events at Rally Finland 2026.
Driving a Toksport WRT Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 with Jakko Viilo, the Estonian completed the tenth round of the FIA World Rally Championship with a maximum 100-point haul from his four scoring events. The result moved both Virves and Viilo into the lead of the WRC2 drivers’ and co-drivers’ standings.
The crew completed the demanding Finnish event at an average speed of 121 km/h.
VIRVES CONTINUES PERFECT WRC2 RUN
The Rally Finland 2026 victory marked the fourth WRC2 win of the season for Virves and Viilo, maintaining their perfect record in their four point-scoring appearances.
The 26-year-old Estonian now leads the WRC2 overall standings, putting himself and Viilo in a strong position in the championship battle.
JOONA TAKES SECOND ŠKODA PODIUM
Lauri Joona and Antti Linnaketo gave Škoda another WRC2 podium result by finishing third in their TGS Worldwide Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
For the Finnish crew, it was their second WRC2 podium of the season.
Former WRC2 champion Emil Lindholm also started strongly in Finland alongside Brazilian co-driver Gabriel Morales in a Toksport WRT-run Škoda Fabia RS Rally2. Lindholm led the category early in the rally but was forced to retire.
TRENTIN LEADS NON-NORDIC CREWS
Giovanni Trentin and Pietro Elia Ometto finished seventh in WRC2 with their Delta Rally Team Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
The Italian crew was the highest-placed non-Nordic pairing in the category at Rally Finland 2026.
