Mikolaj Marczyk and Szymon Gospodarczyk celebrate victory at Rallye San Martino di Castrozza 2026.

POLISH EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS BECOME FIRST FOREIGN WINNERS OF THE MODERN ERA

Polish duo Mikolaj Marczyk and Szymon Gospodarczyk secured a historic victory at the 2026 Rallye San Martino di Castrozza, becoming the first foreign crew to win the event in its modern era.

Competing in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, the reigning European champions approached the rally as part of their preparations for Rally di Roma Capitale. However, the pair delivered a standout performance to claim victory in one of Italy's most prestigious rally events.

Their success marks a significant milestone in the history of Rallye San Martino di Castrozza. Since the event was re-established by San Martino Corse in 1995, no foreign crew had managed to secure overall victory.

Despite Marczyk and Gospodarczyk taking the overall win, local driver Zanolli claimed victory in the Zone Cup classification, while Oriella completed the podium with a strong third-place finish.

The rally continues to carry its international heritage, having previously welcomed foreign winners during its golden era, including German driver Wilfried Gass in 1968, Swedish driver Harry Källström in 1970, and French driver Bernard Darniche in 1976.
