JYVÄSKYLÄ CONFIRMS FIVE-YEAR COMMITMENT TO HOST WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT
Rally Finland will remain on the FIA World Rally Championship calendar through 2031 after the City Board of Jyväskylä approved a new co-operation agreement with AKK Sports Ltd.
The agreement covers the organisation of the FIA World Rally Championship round in Jyväskylä from 2027 to 2031, providing long-term certainty for one of the championship’s most iconic events.
The decision follows the five-year agreement already confirmed in August last year between AKK Sports Ltd and WRC Promoter GmbH, the promoter of the World Rally Championship.
Under the newly approved partnership, the City of Jyväskylä will continue its role as an official main partner and host city of Rally Finland. The agreement defines the rights and responsibilities related to organising the WRC round and its official supporting events in and around Jyväskylä.
A key requirement of the agreement is AKK Sports Ltd’s commitment to organise at least one city-centre special stage in Jyväskylä each year.
“The City Board of Jyväskylä approved a co-operation agreement with AKK Sports Ltd covering the organisation of Rally Finland from 2027 to 2031.”
The agreement also allows AKK to work with other cities and municipalities on route planning, services and joint projects connected to the event. In return, AKK will grant the City of Jyväskylä Official Partner status for Rally Finland.
