M-SPORT TO DEVELOP RALLY2 WRC KIT FOR FORD FIESTA RALLY2 IN 2027

RICHARD MILLENER CONFIRMS M-SPORT WILL USE FIA’S NEW RALLY2 WRC KIT RULES FOR THE 2027 WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON

M-Sport will develop a Rally2 WRC Kit for the Ford Fiesta Rally2 for the 2027 World Rally Championship season, according to team principal Richard Millener.

The confirmation follows Tuesday’s FIA announcement of a new Rally2 WRC Kit package, created to increase the performance of Rally2 cars and bring them closer to the level of the all-new WRC27 cars due next season.

Under the new regulations, Rally2 cars homologated before December 31, 2026 can be fitted with a package including front fenders, a front bumper and a rear aerodynamic device. The FIA has set the maximum cost of the kit at €7,500.

Cars fitted with the Rally2 WRC Kit will be eligible to compete in both the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Any manufacturer homologating a kit must also enter at least two cars on every round of the World Rally Championship.

Toyota is currently the only existing manufacturer working on an all-new WRC27 car, while Project Rally One and WRT Rally1 Spain are also expected to join the category.

M-Sport had previously indicated interest in building a new car for the future, but only from the 2028 season. For 2027, the British team will instead adapt its existing Ford Fiesta Rally2 to the FIA’s new Rally2 WRC Kit regulations.
