LANCIA CLAIMS THE WRC2 TEAMS’ TITLE IN ITS FIRST FIA WRC SEASON SINCE RETURNING TO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Lancia Corse HF has secured the WRC2 Teams’ Championship following Rally del Paraguay, completing a major milestone in its first season back in the FIA World Rally Championship.

The title was confirmed after the eleventh round of the season, with the two official Lancia crews finishing inside the top six of WRC2. Nikolay Gryazin and Konstantin Aleksandrov finished fifth, while Yohan Rossel and Arnaud Dunand took sixth, delivering the points required for Lancia Corse HF to secure the teams’ crown.

Rally del Paraguay proved to be a demanding test for the Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale, with more than 358 competitive kilometres on the fast and technical gravel roads of the Itapúa region.

Changing grip, deepening ruts, dust and evolving weather conditions created difficult conditions throughout the event. Both Lancia crews also experienced tyre-related problems, with Rossel and Dunand particularly affected during the opening day.

Despite the setbacks, both crews maintained their pace and brought their cars to the finish, with Gryazin’s fifth place and Rossel’s sixth proving decisive in the championship battle.

A MAJOR MILESTONE FOR LANCIA CORSE HF

The WRC2 Teams’ Championship marks the culmination of Lancia Corse HF’s first season back in the FIA World Rally Championship.

Throughout the campaign, the Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale has competed across a wide range of surfaces and conditions, allowing the team to build experience and technical knowledge while continuing the development of the car.

Lancia Corse HF’s WRC2 Teams’ title comes with three rounds still remaining in the season. The Italian squad can now approach the final events as WRC2 Teams’ World Champions while continuing to pursue strong individual results and further development of the Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale.
